Found in damp grassland, bogs, fens and marshes.  On moor and heathland, damp woodland, and gardens.
Food plants include course grasses such as cocksfoot (Dactylis glomerata)and couch (Agropyron repens). Common reed (Phragmites communis), reed canary grass (Phalaris arundinacea)  and wood small reed (Calamagrostis epigejos).

Found in rough grassland with disturbed ground, hedgerows, ditches, gardens, woodland rides, heath and dunes.
Food plants include rosebay willowherb (Epilobium augustifolium), and bedstraws (Galium sp.) and has been found on himalyan balsam (Impatiens glandulifera), and fushia (Fuchsia sp.).

Found on heathland and moorland bogs, hedgerows, sand dunes and other scrubby places.
Feeds mainly on woody plants, heather (Calluna vulgaris), bramble (Rubus fruticosus), hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna), blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), sallow (Salix sp.) and birch (Betula sp.).

Found on heath and moorland, damp meadows, coastal grassland and in woodland glades.
Feeds on heather (Calluna vulgaris), creeping willow (Salix repens) and bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), bramble (Rubus fruticosus), meadowsweet (Fillipendula ulmaria)and salad burnet (Sanguisorba minor).

Found in many open habitats including gardens, meadows, scrubby sand dunes, and woodland rides.

Feeds on various herbaceous plants, nettle (Urtica dioica), broad leaved dock (Rumex obtusifolius), burdock (Arctium sp.), hounds tongue (Cynoglossum officinale), and garden plants.

Widespread in gardens, grassland, heath, wetland and woodland edges,
Feeds on herbaceous and some woody plants. Broadleaved dock (Rumex obtusifolius), common sorrel (Rumex acetosa), plantain (Plantago sp.), water mint (Mentha aquatica), bramble (Rubus fruticosus), hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna), burnet rose (Rosa pimpinellifolia) and sallow (Salix sp.).
